Our Mission

To help homeless youth in crisis make immediate and positive changes in their lives. Touchstone Youth Centre provides a safe, supportive and structured environment to meet their complex needs and help them reach their full potential.

Our Goals

• To assist youth in finding permanent, holistic solutions to their homelessness.
• To minimize the disruptive effects that family crisis, physical/sexual abuse and family breakdown have on youth.
• To enhance the life prospects of young people who are attempting to live independently but are temporarily without shelter.
• To provide an accessible, responsive service with extended hours of operation to better serve youth and families.
• To provide crisis counselling and assessment, and facilitate family reconciliation and/or referral to relevant external support systems.

Five Guiding Principles

Immediate: support for their basic needs, food, shelter and medical.

Safe: protect from the violence, poverty and neglect experienced on the streets.

Positive: teach that healthy, caring relationships are based on trust, respect and honesty.

Structure: Street life is unstable and unpredictable, a reasonable set of expectations will help youth focus on making constructive changes.

Change: give them choices, provide support needed to believe in themselves
